Halloween Caramel Apples

The only Halloween celebrating we really did was the Ward Trick-or-Treat.  On Halloween night, we stayed in and made caramel apples.  I had been looking forward to them all year because I had it in my head that we were going to make them on Halloween night.  And they were delicious.  Not necessarily the prettiest treat, but they tasted great!

Marcus was in charge of the caramel

So much easier with a microwave :)

After I dipped and coated the apples,
Marcus had to watch them as they started cooling

They finished cooling in the fridge.
Yes, I used forks as sticks.

Then we drizzled two with chocolate and M&Ms.

Kind of pretty, right? :)  Haha.

Yum!
I think this is going to be my new Halloween tradition.  So much fun.  And we actually made caramel apples on Halloween once before when we lived in Utah, probably five years ago.  Guess that's twice though -- totally a tradition now :)

Hardys' October Visit

Marcus' parents came out to visit for a long weekend.  Chase loves having them come, plus we end of with lots of great pictures of our crazy little guy.

Halloween Truck or Treat

We went to the Ward Truck or Treat, and of course, Chase would not wear his costume.  He was very upset about it and was screaming and crying -- until he heard Harper was there.

Searching for Harper

Finding Harper

Bringing candy back

Enjoying his candy bar

Once he was finally distracted with a chocolate bar (and the fact that he saw Harper), he would let us put on his apron and hat.

Chase was a little chef, complete with oven mitts and a wooden spoon (both not pictured).  He would only agree to the hat and apron, but he plays with the entire ensemble at home all the time.  I had bought his costume early so he'd get practice wearing it.  Didn't help :)

Getting all sugar-ed up

Following after Harper and Angela again

Retrieving one more candy

Wandering around with a chocolate snack.

He didn't last long, but at least we got a couple pictures of Chase the Chef.  And maybe next year he'll come home with some candy so Marcus and I can eat it all :)  He only took two pieces of candy, but he enjoyed every bite.

Big Boy Bed

I took Chase to the doctor this week, and they stated the obvious... big boy.  He's 36 inches tall!  We decided that meant he is definitely big enough for a big bed.  Well, that and the fact that he's been trying to crawl out of his crib and has been really close.

On Thursday, the box with his bed arrived from Amazon, so Chase and I put it together.  I think we did a good job.  :)

Making sure it's sturdy.

Testing it out.

Yeah, this will do.

"Banket... No pellow."

He knows it is his bed.  Super cute.

Putting on some decor.  I spy a sloth and some bongos...

Playing in bed.

And by 8:00 PM that same night.
So far, he loves his big boy bed.  He won't nap in it quite yet since he'd rather jump out and play, but he's great at sleeping in it all night.  That first night, he slept until 7:00 AM, which was amazing.  I probably jumped when all of a sudden there was a Chase head right next to my bed.  But it was so cute with a huge smile after a great night's sleep.  Love that little guy, well, big guy!
