Drumming

One thing Marcus was really looking forward to while in Utah was playing his drum set with Derek.  They made sure to find some time to play together.  I asked for some pictures, and they sent these posed pictures :)

I'm sure they had a great time playing, as loud as they could :)

Speedy Gonzales

Chase is such a funny kid.  There are definitely a few things he really, REALLY, really likes to play with.  Like most boys in the world, the drum set is one of them.  The second the gate is down in the living room he books it down the hall to the drum set, which is really impressive given the temptations of cat food, a bowl of water, a litter box, and a bathroom along the way.  Rarely has he strayed.

Don't believe me?

Looks just like Chase, no?

Drumming with Daddy

While he had the opportunity, Marcus wanted to play Derek's drum set.  He's missed having a full sized acoustic kit instead of just his smaller electronic one.

Both boys enjoyed the jamming session!

Marcus got to play first:

Then Chase got to try:

Chase loved it.  His little giggles are super cute, if you missed them turn up the volume :)  I promise they're under the drumming.

Marcus' Mini Me

Chase definitely takes after his dad...
  • Enjoyment of the outdoors
  • Big head
  • Love of computers
  • Obsession with cords/cables
And now this too.  Couldn't have expected less.

Roland

Like I had mentioned earlier, Marcus was having a rough time with some work assignments.  It seemed like the only thing that would cheer him up was...
Yeah, seriously.  Yoo-hoo.

Anyway, since he had been given some money with his award from BYU, we decided to put it to good use: a stress outlet for Marcus.
I think this is the first time I've seen him smile WHILE putting together something that arrived in tiny pieces in the Amazon box.

Check it out, he's still happy :)
You can almost tell what it is there.

Ah, his finished product.  (I thought it was funny how his big cheesy smile vanished when he was playing since he said he was happier.  LOL.)

No worries, the cat was ALWAYS close.

Jamming away.

Yes, he is playing in our living room in these pictures.
No, it did not stay there.  But we're still working on its final home in the bedroom somewhere.  (Organizing that room is a project for another month.)
It actually packs up pretty small.  A ton smaller than his actual kit, which is still in Utah.
Surprisingly enough it is so quiet.  I'm sure neighbors will like this tons better than when he had his set up in our other apartments.
But he likes it.  And he's super excited for when his bass pedal comes in the mail, if you even noticed he doesn't have one yet.
And I'm hoping it does its job.  Relieve stress.  Marcus' and mine! Haha.
New rule-- Little Critter is allowed to play any instrument, as long as it is small...  :)

Drum Lesson

Marcus had his first drum student in years, and she was amazing! A definite sense of rhythm at her young age...

We were watching our neighbor's daughter, Emma, while they were cleaning out their apartment to move.

She's so cute. We're going to miss seeing them around all the time. (Plus, they're amazing frog-sitters!)

The lesson wiped them out...

They're both so cute :)
