Oceanside

There were a lot of fun things on the calendar for this summer, and the beach was no exception.  We'd been counting down all year to a fun week in California.  Chase enjoyed jumping in the water and playing in the sand.  Ty liked exploring new things and new places - and new people.

We enjoyed some of our regular traditions, like going to Joe's Crab Shack and trying to get a quick family picture...

We had a minor detour on the way home.  There was a ton of traffic, and GPS gave us another route home.  But obviously someone needs to update this road because there was no way it was going to work out.  This dirt road was after a big drop from a previous dirt road.  Yeah, not a safe plan for us.

It was another great year in Oceanside.  We're looking forward to #GardnersInCA2017 :)

Ty Turns One!

I can't believe Ty is ONE!  

We went to the doctor, and he's growing well - right on track.  He's definitely his own little guy, not following in the huge size of his brother.  

Weight: 21 pounds - 50th percentile

Height: 29.85 inches - 43rd percentile

Head Circumference: 19 inches - 94th percentile

So maybe with that head size he is Chase's brother :)

Ty is such a happy guy.  He loves to play and crawl around.  He really likes to push things, like boxes and buckets, across the carpet.  He loves to eat.  He'll eat basically anything, besides green beans.  Fruits are definitely a favorite (grapes and bananas specifically).  And meat.  This kid likes meat.  

He doesn't talk yet but babbles a lot.  Some sounds seem almost like a few words, but I can't say he's said something clearly.  He doesn't walk, but he'll stand up on furniture.  He's not in a rush.  

Ty enjoys watching Chase and almost playing together.  He tries to put on everyone's shoes, but he doesn't really ones his size on his feet.  He loves animals and petting our cat.  I think his favorite game is putting toys into a bucket.  Then he'll pull them out and do it again.  

He is definitely our smiley, happy little guy.  Cozette took some pictures of Ty for his birthday, and I think she really captured his sweet personality.  (And his love for his bear.)

Ty's Birthday Party

We decided to do a big family birthday party for Ty the night before his first birthday.  We had a barbecue in the backyard with hot dogs and lots of sides.  Chase also helped pick out the type of cupcakes we made.  It was extra fun because our friends from NYC, the De Leons, were staying with us, so they were at the party too.

It was a fun birthday party.  It's nice living so much closer to family so we can have birthdays together.  Happy Birthday, Ty!

The Crazy Sleeper

Ty is a crazy little guy.  He plays hard and then crashes.  He isn't the best sleeper and has nights where he wakes up a few times still, but when he gets tired, he just leans over and falls asleep.

He definitely loves to play.

After playing hard with Chase, I can put him in his bed where he doesn't even move.  He just leans over.  Don't worry, I fix him so he'll be more comfortable after he's asleep.

Neptune Park

This area of Utah County is really cool.  They plan lots of events throughout the summer.  On Monday nights, the City of Saratoga Springs hosts a big food truck event where they line the side of the park with all kinds of food trucks.  Also once a month they host a movie under the stars when it gets dark.  Although we didn't end up staying for the movie since it doesn't get dark until pretty late, we decided to have an evening playing at the park and then get dinner at the food trucks with our neighbors.  

I chose a grilled cheese sandwich themed food truck and had a delicious grilled cheese with turkey or chicken or something.  I can't remember exactly.  But it was good.  And Marcus had BBQ that he still talks about.  

Chase had a PBJ and some french fries.  And then he played at the playground for awhile.  It is an amazing park - it's actually famous.

This park is definitely on the list to go back to and play more!
