Snow and a Brush

It started out like any other day-- hanging out,

Making faces,

Getting tired,

But then things started to get a little crazy.

I decided that since Chase enjoyed standing by the window pointing at the snow that we'd go get a first hand experience with it, once it started slowing down a bit.  He wasn't willing to touch it, but he did a great job walking down the middle of the shoveled sidewalks.

Chase was obviously excited to finally be outside again.  It's been so cold that we've stayed inside a lot more than normal.  Although it had been crazy snowing, it was a little warmer.  Chase loved his trek down the street :)

 He didn't want to come inside, but I think he was ready to warm up a bit and have a snack.  Plus he loves riding in the elevator.  Such a cute snow buddy!

...maybe next time he'll play in it.

Suzuki Baby

So we had another cold snow day here. 

That picture was taken after just a couple hours snowing.  It snowed all freaking day.  Normally I do think it's pretty when I know I get to stay inside, but Chase has been dying to get out.  Plus, it feels like it's been such a crazy cold winter forever!  I need spring!

After a whole day of being inside, Chase came up with something new to do right before bed.  Apparently he's decided to start teaching himself to play the cello.  He found my dowel stick (practice) bow and started practicing "bowing" different rhythms.  Such a musical genius for 16 1/2 months :)  jk.  I don't believe in that-- I believe "Every child can!"

So maybe he didn't necessarily practice his bowing correctly, but I still thought it was cute.

Got some solid practicing in.  We'll have to work on that attention span :)

Cinderella

On Friday night, Marcus and I went to go see Cinderella on Broadway.  I had really been wanting to see it since my mom and brothers went several years ago, and apparently, if you wait patiently enough, one day, you run across great discounted tickets!  I love the Rogers and Hammerstein music, so I was really looking forward to the show.

Even Marcus had a fun time!

It was a really fun show.  Definitely not the typical Disney version, but I did see Marcus smile and laugh a few times.  I highly recommend it.  A super fun evening!

I may or may not have had complaints about the lack of Chase pictures on the blog recently.  I apologize.  We've been sick and then had a crazy Internet outage thing.  So here's a post of the crazy goof ball over the past few sick weeks.

Playing at the Park

It has been frakking cold these past few weeks, so we've been almost on lockdown inside to stay warm.  Finally it hasn't been single digits with a negative wind chill, so we've headed to the park a few times.  Chase is such a park stud.  Watching him figure out how to use the big kid slide made me realize how big he really is getting.  It is super cute.

Simply Three

My friend Nick is the bassist in a string trio called Simply Three.  They're based in Arizona, but they were out in New York for a conference and to film a music video.  Marcus and I were able to go see them play a few songs at the 3 West Club Lounge.  Their set started around 10:00 PM, and it took us probably three times longer to get there than watch them play-- but we really had a fun time.  It was great to see Nick and support their trio.

It was a lot of fun to get out and see them play.  They arrange covers of pop music for strings.  They're very good-- it's a fun show.  I really suggest seeing them live.

The Rachael Ray Show

One of the things I really wanted to do in New York was go to a taping of the Rachael Ray show, so I was just a little excited when one of my friends invited me to go with her.  :)  It was a crazy cold morning, so taking Chase to a babysitter was definitely an adventure by itself.  Luckily that wasn't the end of the excitement, although Chase had a fun day with some friends and took a ridiculously long nap.

Whitney, Melissa, and I all met up at the studio and got to spend some time chatting and eating snacks.  When it was time to go into the studio, we got prime seating.  Seriously.  Like center, middle, next to an aisle.  It was great to be able to watch all the cameras zoom around and the different jobs people had to make the show come together.

The comedian Joey Kola was the audience warm up guy, and he was really entertaining.  He made sure we made our oooo's and awwww's at the right time.  But honestly, with all the good smells in that kitchen, he didn't really need to do that :)  Seriously, the soup, the desserts, the chicken, everything smelled divine.

The episode will air this Friday, the 17th, with a short segment on Mardi Gras.  (It will have the same guest chef, John Besh.)  So if you want to see a great interview with Orlando Jones from Sleepy Hollow or learn how to choose the best underwear for yourself (seriously), check it out.  The Rachael Ray show is known for showing the audience a lot, so be on the look out :)

We were even lucky enough to be there on a giveaway day!  Wahoo!  We were given John Besh's new cookbook, which looks incredible.  The pictures and stories look really fun.  Can't wait to try something out.  And we also got a "Besh Box" themed "The Big Game Box," which is basically a helper kit to make some of his recipes.
