We had a very calm New Years celebration. On New Year's Eve, we went down to Times Square in the evening to see the crowds and hype. Nothing was really ready for the night, but there were TONS of people, cops, and SWAT teams. NY is definitely on top of preparing for this huge event. Marcus and I walked around until we were tired and headed home to watch movies, drink sparkling cider, and watch the countdown on tv. It's weird how close all of that was happening, and we were watching it on tv. But going down there would have been more than overwhelming with so many people in such a small space for hours. On the first, we went to another one hour week of church and came home to make dinner. See, really a calm New Years. :)
And we've both started 2012 working hard-- I had my first day of work on Monday, and Marcus started with CooperKatz on Tuesday. We're still figuring out how our schedules will align and how to plan dinners and whatnot, but it's been fun. On my first day off, after cleaning our apartment a little bit, I went to the store and then walked around Sunnyside a little, mostly to figure out what's around. It's a great area! And Marcus finished his first Man Project-- started 2011, ended 2012. That seems like it took forever with the change of the year. But most of the time we were waiting for miscellaneous pieces to arrive. I'll post some pictures since he's pretty proud of it :)
We hope you all had a great New Years! Happy 2012!
(Yes, I did write 2011 at first and had to change it! Haha.)

Like many of you know, we decided to save money, we'd spend more on a tv. That way we'd want to stay home and watch movies-- we do own like a million :) Plus we used credit card points to get a free surround sound, which arrived before Christmas, and were given a bluray player for Christmas. It was great because we could put our full budget toward the actual tv. So we ordered one through Amazon. When we sold our tv in Utah, we also sold the stand. So my job was to pick out a new one, which conveniently we ended up ordering through Amazon again. Marcus' job was to put it all together.
And he did it! Of course he did :) The only problem was that the actual stand for the tv wasn't in the box, so we had to call Amazon and figure out what happened. And they were fantastic. They got Sony to ship us a new one for free! We just had to wait for it to come snail mail style. In the meantime, we wanted to use our tv, so we leaned it against bubble wrap. Worked great.
And that's the story of our new tv. In case you were interested. Or not.
Do they have a t-shirt that says i'm a vicarious new yorker through you? I love all these updates and I cannot believe the Starrs beat us out there!
ReplyDeleteNice selections of the stand and the TV. Congratulations to Marcus for the assembly. I bet the instructions were crystal clear? NOT. Erica needs to snap some Sunnyside exploring pictures so we can see you neat neighborhood. We'd whine and snivel if you didn't have this blog. Thank you.
